MARK MACKAY – DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Mark Mackay has been a Cinematographer for almost 3 decades. His journey includes 25 years of experience as a Director of Photography, and has awarded many productions with stunning & emotional images. Mark can work in a wide range of production styles, lighting and technical formats: 16mm; 35mm; S16; 16:9; IMAX; HD; DV; 3D; optical-illusion; macro; aerial and underwater shooting. He is capable in working with all types of equipment: cameras, sound and lighting/grip packages. Others skills of interest are: An expert hand-held cameraman, skiing, rollerblades, Jib-cranes, steadicam & helicopter shooting. Mark has traveled to over 60 countries during his production career. Extreme places and climate conditions and cultural exchange.
Mark’s early production career began in documentary, corporate exhibiting and big screen production; 70mm 3-D. Mark has touched every type of production imaginable: action sports, music videos, corporate, commercial, feature length drama movies and documentary TV specials. In 1987, Mark made the decision that, in the future, he would only be a part of films that provided valuable positive human content. Indeed, Mark likes to get involved in productions that have meaningful messages and driven stories. He enjoys bringing dramatic style, lighting and mood to stories where a design is required.
Numerous films Mark worked on were award winning documentaries: Deadly Currents, Expulsion & Memory, For the Love of Dolphins, Quest for the Lost Tribes of Israel, Return of the Gods, Vanishing Acts, Captive and Pagan Christ. He also worked on several awarded television series, such as Originals, Meeting the Crisis, Quest, TV TV, Life After-Death, Spiritual Literacy, The 12 Steps, Markings, Spoken Art, Around the World with Tippi, Solo’s and Rhythm & Blooms.
Mark has a unique ability to create camera perspectives that nourish the curious eye, adding value to projects that require emotional and informational communications. Willful, positive and always seeking new challenges, Mark will bring focus and amazement to any project he is involved with. Mark transforms emotions into images, so everyone can see through the marvels shared by the story being told to our eyes, ears and senses.
